Santorini's Greek Kitchen in Fountain Square
Amalfi Ristorante Italiano on Mass Ave
Thai Spice on County Line Road, just North of Greenwood
San Giovese on 82nd near Castleton
Santorini's has great Babaganoush and the belly dancing on the weekends is fun.
Amalfi's because the food is good.
Thai Spice just because I waited for years to have a good Thai restaurant on the South Side.
Sangiovese because the food is great (but a little pricey) and if you go on Tuesday, you can hear Dave play the piano. Dave is great! If you have a zoobook or one of those other coupon books, they often have a coupon in them.

Please do me a favor and go to this restuarant
http://www.shapiros.com/
My family has been eating at Shapiro's for generations and now I am pregnant and live too far away to eat there!
It is a deli, but the food and service is EXCELLENT. It is fresh and delicious. Corned beef sandwiches made right before you and you can buy lots of there foods to take home with you!
OHHHHHHH! I can't even stand it!
Also, a place I used to enjoy was The Abbey coffehouse, which has excellent food (sandwiches, wraps, vegetarian, salads, etc.), but if you just want to go there for after dinner coffee and desert, it is an excellent place to sit and enjoy conversation with your group or mingle in with others. I haven't been there in years, but this website might give you more info. I think it may have even moved. Check the phone book.

I would highly recommend Hollyhock Hill - A tradition in family-style dining since 1928 (one of the few such restaurants of its type in the United States), well-known for its superior country-style cuisine and high standards of service. Famous for its country-style fried chicken, but combination dinners of chicken, shrimp and steak are also recommended. Caters to groups, large and small. Very affordable. One-of-a-kind - NOT a chain!
