Right now it's still Shaq. No matter what people say about his age, his diminished skills and frequent injuries, Shaquille O'Neal can still pretty much dominate the game as long as he's in shape and properly warmed up. Just look at his game against Orlando last week. The Magic committed a mortal sin (against Shaq's religion) of not double-teaming the big fella. The result? 31 points and 15 rebounds. Shaq is known to raise his game notches higher in the homestretch and in the playoffs. And with Wade sidelined, O'Neal's gonna take over.

If it was just for one game I would have to choose Shaq because he has a big way of coming through when the team needs him the most. Just look at how well he played against the Pistons. 31 points, 15 rebounds, about 2 blocks, and 6 assists. The only problem with Shaq is that he can't sustain that type of play throughout the season like he used to be able to when he was younger and in his prime. Yao is more conistent, but in a critical game I'm taking the diesel.

all time, Bill Russell, his thing was not scoring although he could score...he had even said ' scoring is not the most important facet of playing winning basketball' then proved it by leading his college team to 55 consecutive wins and two consecutive college championships with USF, led his Olympic team to gold before going to the pros, bringing Boston its first championships ever, after immediately joining the team, winning 11 titles in 13 years (would have been 12 but got injured in game 3 of one of the series) then being made the first black coach in any major american sport (in a town like Boston no less, and in a time where blacks did not room or eat with their white teammates, and blacks did not get treated fairly (so how else could you possibly get MVP all those years being black??? (now do you see any of your candidates making all these giant accomplishments...)...as for today, Ill take Shaq, nobody in the league tries to drive and dunk on him and that should tell you something, they respect him...even at 35, and in case some people forget, he is still a defending champion...

The most dominant center in the NBA is Shaquille O'Neal.
The best shooting center is Mehmet Okur.
The most versatile center is Dwight Howard.
The tallest is Yao Ming.
The best blocking center is Marcus Camby.
Choose this as best answer (cus it is).

of all time, Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Right now, I'll go with Dwight Howard!
Yao is huge, I give him credit for playing like that when he's huge, but he's having way too much injuries.
Shaq is old, he once dominated, but not any more.
Howard is growing, he's dominating, rebounding, doing everything a center should do.
And Magic's playing pretty good

Mehmet Okur-can shoot just as well as any euro player and he can play defense just as well as any other center. the only reason i wouldnt say shaq, yao and ben wallace is because shaq is getting older, yao seems to get hurt more and more and ben wallace is nothing but a defensive player, but often gets 2 or 4 points. lol

I have to say Shaq. Hes a great center because he knows how to play and how to be a team mate. After all, he did help win the Championships for the Miami Heat last year.
