ok.. what does the jagged break in a time line mean> Why wiould such a break be included on a timeline?? HELP PLEASE!!!

this occurs in math too
on graphs and charts such as this one, the jagged line is called a broken line. it refers to a long period of time where nothing much happened.
for example, if you had a time line where somthing happened in 1906 and nothing between that and 1999 happened, and your counting in years by 1's, you would want to write it as 1904, 1905, 19061999, 2000, 2001

it means a span of years is skipped instead of having scaled inches of nothing useful
