more consistant shooting skills comes from practising. depending on ur position practise jump shots where u just stand and do a jump shot, then do some while ur dribbling. dribble the ball then pull up and shoot. when u get more comfortable with it all. practise at game speed. repeition is the key

getting past a defender will work for u with ur dribbling ability and foot speed. think about it this way, u have the ball so u decide where u wanna go, the defender has the try and follow u. so use that edge as an advantage. take him right, then move left.....shuffle back go forward, leave him guessing. doing things like this means u need to work on ur dribbling ability...practise at game speed

this one probably wont happen without u getting fouled. so if there are ppl there, expect ur gonna make contact with them. just take it hard at them and look for the foul. most of the time there will be a bump and the ref will blow the whistle. otherwise, have some confidence in ur ability and dont let the chance of a block affect the way u take ur lay up......

in all sports, its about confidence...it get that confidence u gotta practise and believe that all the effort and work u did has paid off....good luck

For your shot you just have to shoot ALOT. Basketballs my sport im the starting point guard for a high ranked AAU team and my best thing is getting past defenders then dishing it out. First Dont dribble the ball as soon as you get it. If the defender is playing very tight D hold the ball in triple threat. Then take the biggest step you can take without traveling. If ur on left side take step with left foot and vise versa. I am pretty slow but i can get past the best defenders with my first step. make sure to not put the ball in front of your body or itll get stripped.
Instead of goin in to take a lay-up stop 5 feet in front of the rim, and shoot a runner with lots of arch.

shooting is more of a art than anything, so it starts wit the bend of the knees, ball placement in your hand, the strength that u put it up with and the arch behind the shot, and you just have to have good ball handling skills to get past a defender, a simple hesitation always works, because defenders now of days always go for the steal, and they "dont" want u to get around them, so the always shift left and right, if u hesitate to the left, quickly drive to the right and vise versa, and if u are driving to the basket to get the layup you have to use your body, because 9 times out of 10 you will get the foul and a free trip to the foul line, but the best way is to use the "floater" put it up over big men b4 they can even get to the ball

Shooting inconsistency comes from having one or more flaws in your shooting stroke. The most common shooting flaw is having your offhand help push the shot. Another common flaw is dropping your follow through. So, shoot one-handed and hold your follow through until the ball hits the basket.
Get past a defender by driving past his front foot. Train yourself to read the defender's stance. The time it takes for the defender to swing his foot back is the time it should take for you to get by him.
When helpside defense steps in, either pull up for a short jumper or try to get through them. Keep your eyes focused on the rim, even when it seems like a forest of arms around you.

shooting: you need to practice more and more and more...
that's all it takes

Get pass a defender: practice dribbling, more and more, and when you get Really good at it, you then try getting past someone or something. But you have to get really good at ball handling first.

Layup while avoiding a defender in the air: That is very hard to do, practice the other drills first, you have to have great body control, and a considerablly long hang time to do it.
