Yes. I can't stress that enough. I had pre-cancerous moles pop up on my ankle by the time I was 17, and I DIDN'T tan all the time.Of course, you should know that there are other risk factors you could look for to see your exact risks, but any tan is your body's response to being altered in a negative way, and cancer develops when your body has trouble repairing it (a tan is your body's way of repairing itself).
A lot of tanning places have spray tans that are safer than UV tanning. Maybe you could check into it?

Tanning in a tanning bed is just as hazardous as tanning on the beach out in the sun. If you do not burn or tan very deeply the health risks are lower, but whenever you tan you are making yourself more succeptable to skin cancer. Many skin cancers are non lethal, but their are a few that could kill you. I would suggest trying some sort of spray tan, these days you can get one that doesnt make you look like an orange!! hope this helps!!

If you consider opening yourself up to the possibility of getting skin cancer, yes using a tanning bed is really hazardous to your health. It is bad enough for you to sit out in the sun to get a tan under regular circumstances, but using a tanning bed increases the chances of cancer 10 fold. You can go around with a tan and look lovely and risk death, or you can put on a blusher or bronzer and live longer. It's your choice

Everytime you get into a tanning bed, you expose yourself to high doses of artifical UV radiation. This does, and will cause cancer with prolonged use. However, what many people overlook is the fact a good day outside in the is just as bad, if not worse.

I knew someone at work who got skin cancer three times from tanning, now she uses the chemical tanning or just stays pale. You are taking your life into your own hands.

Yes Kate, it certainly is. Science doesn't really know how bad it is for you, but I think that 20 years from now because of the use of tanning salons, there will be many more cases of skin cancer. Stay away from tanning salons...dangerous and hazardous to your health.

It depends on how long your in the bed. 10-20 minutes you should be fine but I'd go 10 and see how I look then go the next five. If you go 30-45 minutes you are going to have TOO MANY dead skin cells. Thats what makes you tan. So I wouldn't go TO long...

A tan is actual damage to your skin.... Try the spray on tan if you need that golden glow - It looks pretty good and is about the same price as a set of tanning sessions....

of course it is... anytime you are exposing your body to UV rays it is damaging your skin. Personally I think that tanning beds are slightly better than the actual sun, but the change of pigment in your skin actually indicates damage to your skin cells. Whatever you do... just don't burn - that is much worse for you than tanning. Try this link for even more information...

Yes. A little bit of sun is good, but tanning can harm your immune system, increases the risk of skin cancer, and creates skin againg (wrinkles)
