You should really look up this character...If I remember right...Something about the Queen? His stories were wonderful reading and if you do not learn something from this lesson you did not research it! Enjoy this essay by starting off with how many stories or movies?

Alfred Hitchcock is a fascinating character. Look him up in the library or on the search engine. I have heard many stories about him that are so interesting. Good luck with your essay.

Alfred Hitchcock made a lot of great movies however, for me, he broke the mold when he made phsyco!!
Norman Bates was derived from a real life pshyco named Ed Gein. He was an older man who would make chairs appolstered in human skin, neckalaces made of human ears i could go on for ever. When the police stormed his house they found the whole house in a desheviled state, but when they went to his mothers room it was in pristine condition, that is where Hitchcock got the idea for the "mother" obsessed Norman Bates. Back in those days it was different for a director to take from real life and place it on screen. That is why for many people Phsyco was a "mold breaker"!!

Try 'Hitchcock and Symbolism' - accounts for his personal state of society and life - all of his films have some form - most notable 'Vertigo', 'Spellbound' (Dali designed dream sequence) and who can ever forget 'Psycho'.
Hitchcock received letter (quote) "Dear Mr Hitchcock, after seeing your film Psycho, my wife has been afraid of the shower and has not washed for three weeks. What do you suggest I do?"
Hitchcock replied, "Send her to the dry cleaners."

If you can find the book Truffaut wrote (actually it's a compilation of interviews he did with hitchcock) aptly titled "Hitchcock" you can get quite some insight on his amazing techniques and ideas.

He made a movie called "Rope" in which the action in the movie seems to take place in real time.

I remember him as changing scary movies from cheesy to legitimate. He had great actors and actresses where previously that type of movie drew only "B" actors.

You ever seen "the birds"? I'll never see seagulls at the river in the same way again...
