I beg to differ with the responses so far. To my understanding Roberto Begnini is like a god in Italy. Indubitably, he is still directing and acting in many foreign films. He's still got time to star in classic American indie flicks, such as "Coffee and Cigarettes" (2003).
As for Marisa Tomei: hello, "Wild Hogs"!

The name that comes to mind for me is Roberto Begnini. The guy won in 1999 (when he climbed over the seats to accept his award), and to my knowledge has not been heard from again in the U.S.
Well you asked the question, my answer was Begnini. He may be a god in Italy, but you asked who has suffered the worst drop in fame. Maybe he still has time here, but so far, it ain't happenin'. As most of us here are not devout followers of Italian cinema, naturally he would be our answer. Who would you pick? You don't specifically name anyone. You need to be more decisive yourself before thumbing down or criticizing others, yes?
And to think I gave you a star. I didn't think it was a question that would merit disagreement for sharing an opinion.

D) Probably Marisa Tomei after winning it for the movie "My Cousin Vinny". She's acted since then, but in mostly minor roles.
