A lot of stuff has gone on in my life in the past two years, I'm a HS sophomore, my GPA is 2.8. I had to deal with so much stuff, it began to kill my motivation for school, but I'm over that now, I need to work my butt off to get this GPA up in the next two years.

What would you guys recommend? What is the highest I can raise it to with 2 AP classes next year, along with 5 other regular ones? All A's, I'm serious, I need to do this and I will do it, I just don't know how to calculate it, any help? I want a 3.5 before I leave HS, I will do anything, is it possible?

AP classes go into your GPA as a 5.0 if it's an A. So get an A (a B will give you 4.0 into your GPA). Both will help you greatly.

A 3.5 is pretty demanding (it'd get you an honors diploma in Ohio). SAT, ACT, extra-curriculars, and community service are other factors with college apps. It isn't just your GPA.

If you pull a 3 by the end of the year (assuming you do well in the classes you're in now) and go 4+ for the next two years, that should average out to a 3.5+.

Note that Colleges will probably give more weight to your last two years of high school that your first two. If you pull a 4 or a high 3 during the last two years of school and say that you got down to business after your sophomore year, and colleges will probably take that into account.

Study hard.

The best way to ensure you good grades is to talk to you teachers. Tell them what you want and they will usually help you achieve it. Drop in on teachers during lunch, after school, anytime you can. Get the latest info on the test. Also if possible get old tests and notes from the class, they will help you.

Have your parents call them or write them a note of your expectations. Teachers knowing that parents are watching them are more likely to be fair with you and not mess up your grade.

I've even had teachers give me a better grade than i deserve just to keep my parents from complaining.

Focus is the key. I dropped out of high school my junior year, stupid mistake, but obtained my ged and I obtained my Associates degree back in October, I graduated with high honors. Anything is possibly. You have plenty of time to get your gpa up. But you cannot let anyone hold you back including your friends. So on Friday when your friends want to blow off preparing for that american history test, think about your studies before hanging out.

You're only a sophomore? You have plenty of time.

If it makes you feel any better .. I have an even lower GPA, and I'm a senior. It's too late for me.

I would recomend that you go over everything that you do in class, take good notes, and even ask a freind to help you.
