Yes. Write a letter of demand immediately. If there is no answer within a reasonable time then you have two options:
1. Take legal action against Walmart
2. Claim under your own motor policy

Sure. They would be liable. But how about your liability for driving the car with the oil light on? You didn't notice or hear the noise from the engine?

Maybe--because there might be State Laws which limit liability in certain situations. The only way to know for sure is to ask a laywer that is licensed to provide legal advice in your state.

Duh...YES.
My advice: claim this under your own comprehensive insurance. They will replace your engine and recover the money (including your deductible if any) from Walmart.
