1. It was not a stamp exhibition.

2. The British Empire Exhibition was the world's largest colonial exhibition. It celebrated British achievements in the areas of industry, engineering and arts and aimed to encourage international trade and to strengthen imperial bonds. It took place in Wembley. You can read about it in wikipedia (just a stub, at present).

3. The British Empire Exhibition was the subject of the UK's first commemorative stamps. That is probably the cause of your confusion.
