I have only seen the show a couple of times. Do they ever do anything else but deal with the issue of detention? Do all kids arrested for an offense in that city go to juvie?

Kids court is exactly that, a place for justice without having to deal with the adult system, at this age sometimes this kind of intervention will help to keep a kid from a life of crime.

Well the show is in Indiana--no offense to hoosiers, I am one.

But the point being is that most juvenile offenders are petty offenders. If they do something more severe or "adult" like they will be charged as an adult and you wouldn't see them on juvies.

However, their appearance on juvies is pretty ignorant and a parent should intervene and demand that their child's face not be on television. In the state of Indiana, when a child is 18 their juvenile record is void and no longer exists. It can't be used against them. But if they're face is broadcast across national television how can they take advantage of this free pass?

In this town if you are a juvenile and you do something that is against the law, they take you to jail, regardless of what it is, then they call your parents, release you in their custody, you go to court, and end up with a fine, and/or community service, and if that doesn't work, then you end up being sent to a boys home, or to a center to determine what the problem is....
