You may need more friends. It should tell you under your work info. (Like where u see what time u go to work and get home) Should be a bar (up and down) that shows how well ur doing at work. If it has +1 or +2 at the bottom u need that many more friends to advance.
Or maybe u have reached the top of ur career. Choose another or turn the time back on, get old and retire. Good Luck!!

Check the work tab to see what your family friends count is (the little smiley thing below the job performance bar). If you've already been promoted once, chances are you need another friend or two to be promoted. After all, ninety percent of the job market is who you know. The friend count will indicate whether or not you need more friends and if so, how many.

Also, make sure the game isn't telling you there's some peripheral skill, other than the arts ones, that you need that you haven't worked on yet.

You probably need more friends for your sim. If you go to the careers section on the HUD it will have a verticle meter/bar that is filled with green, yellow, or red depending on how well the sims is doing for their career. Right under that is a blue (friend) happy face that has a number next to it, it shows how many firends the sims has. Right under that is a number like (+1). That means the sim needs 1 more friend to be promoted. If it syas (+3) you need 3 more friends and (+0) means the sim doesnt need anymore friends to be promoted.
