It usually plays that song when the contestants get booted, but this year they chose a different one. "Bad Day" basically is "Idol's" theme song, so why did they switch. I know that a lot of people like that song better than the new one. If anybody could give me an explaination, that'd be great!

I think they replaced it because it wasn't an Idol song.
The new song is Home by Chris Daughtry. I think they just replaced it because now the 'goodbye song' is from a former Idol.
Maybe they'll bring back Bad Day when we get the finalists.

They use a different song every year, Bad Day was just last year's song.

maybe the shows producers get money from the new song since its by a contestant, but they get nothing for playing "bad day"

They don't start playing a 'theme' until they are down to the top 12. maybe then they'll play it.

I think this is idol's down year. They said it on the yahoo homepage too.

Probably just because it's a new season and they want to "mix it up" a little...God knows they NEED it.
