Some people may need to drop out of high school to work to help their family make enough money to make ends meet. Or they just don't want to finish high school because they think school is for losers.

Because they are bored with what is taught. Or there so highly smart that the teachers cant challenge there minds..

Because we have MacEducation. Everything is served, but nothing is really good. Once upon a time we went for depth in education, and I believe (Isaccs theory) that students were challenged by the depth of the education. Today, we serve education a la carte, and barely scratch the surface of any topic. Also, it's time to dump advanced placement garbage. If you don't believe it's garbage, just check with any University that tests their freshmen students for class placements. You would not believe the number of advanced placement students that didn't learn deeply. I believe students today have learned how to score points - too bad we don't teach them to learn.

Why am I so negative - my job is to train adults to better perform their jobs. I am ashamed for our schools that our workforce is so poorly prepared.

It's so boring. My old school had a high rep. for drop outs and it's mainly because we are treated like criminals and not allowed to do anything. And there was no fun in the learning, some teachers were exceptions.
I wanted to say that those that say that they are lazy don't understand how stressful it is to be in school these days.
From bad teachers to bad classmates.

They might have trouble understanding things, can't focus, problems at home, be involved in gang activity, or are too lazy the list can go on. Stay in school though so you can get a nice job and a nice house.

Whatever their reasons are should be of no concern to you, unless you are an educator (in which case, you should already know the answer).

Be cool.............stay in school.

they think there is an easier way and think they know everything they need to know. At least that was my (stupid) reason for quitting.
