I am intending to buy my first laptop. It has to have bluetooth, GREAT sound quality, good graphics, dvd rw and at least 1 mb ram.
17 inch would be nice but average weight please.
A good substitute for my desktop.
I like Vaio but some told me Dell is the best.
Help!

When I bought my laptop 2 years ago in Canada I was told dell and toshiba were the best. I chose the Toshiba as I was working overseas and wanted an international warranty. AS it turned out, I work in a developing country, a certified toshiba repair shop was 4 hours from my house. As to features, most laptops would come with those features as long as you are willing to pay the price. With things like bluetooth, mine did not have it (remember 2 years old) but I was able to buy a bluetooth device that plugs into my usb port and looks like a flash drive, very cheaply. My screen in 15.4 inch widescreen and my laptop is already big. cannot imagine what a 17 inch laptop would be like. Would this laptop act more like a desktop or more like a laptop. I.E. do you see yourself travelling a lot using your laptop or just office, home, and maybe a coffee shop sometimes. Think of transportability.

Some other things you might want to look at is what the laptop is used for. As an example, my laptop is my main source of entertainment music and dvd`s as well as storage for all my photos I take. As a result I wanted good sound quality, good ram, and a lot of harddrive space.

My only complaint with sony products is that they usuaslly (digicams and cellphones) require sony products to run, i.e. special memory cards, headphones, chargers etc. So it is harder to get aftermarket accessories.

Hope this helps

I don't think your computer will run very fast on 1 MB of RAM. ;P

You should get a 17" MacBook. :)
My friend said his friend had a Vaio and it broken a few months after he got it (don't be fooled by the slick design of Vaios).
I've had two Dells which crashed and one of the computers are no longer useable.
I like Toshiba, and they have extremely nice customer support.
I'm not sure whether Dell or Toshiba is better, but I know Dell is a lot cheaper than Toshiba, and I personally think you get what you pay for.
I now have a Toshiba laptop, and like it quite very much, but unless your really into gaming, I would suggest getting a MacBook.
I like MacBooks because they have a nice design (both inside and out), and you don't even need to install an anti-virus or firewall program.

I have to pipe in with Mac as well, they are the best... but it appears you are looking for a dedicated windoze machine. The new Macs will run windoze, even Vista; but if you want something else, get a Toshiba laptop.

STAY AWAY from Dells, they are definitely not the best, and now-a-days they aren't even the cheapest.

Toshiba is making some great laptops. Get a Mac #1, Toshiba #2... Dell #987456534565

Get IBM. They are more expensive than the average lap tops but are for a reason. It's what the professionals use and has a classic design.

I've had several dells and have had problems with all of them. They look nice on the outside but the performance will fail eventually.

they are really reliable. the whole apple and macs thing is just like a trend. they work like any other laptop, so they arent anything special. if you want something sturdy and reliable i would get a dell! they rock! good luck and have a great night! :]

Mac laptop are best. I'd go for a lot more than 1 meg of RAM though. Dell are cheap - and you get what you pay for.

I have gone with dell for both my Laptop and Desktop. As long as you know what you want, they will put it together, they have alot of options, plus if ever you need to upgrade something they have a record of what computer you have and what options are available for your model.

enable me preface by skill of affirming that i'm an authorized Dell and HP Reseller. I even have no longer something against Macs in any respect. in certainty, i'm exceedingly inspired by skill of the present Macbooks. in case you pick the Microsoft working equipment, the Dell Vostro pc has been my present day %. for many suitable fee for lowend laptops. for my area, you're comparing apples to oranges. they do no longer analyze to one yet another as they the two have diverse reward. My expert opinion: Macbooks - stable (geared up on Unix platform), stable courses, straight forward, extra inflexible standards, extra perfect video modifying potential, potential to run XP almost (utilising utility). Dell Vostro - Comes with XP or Vista, versatile with utility, quite some hardware concepts, low priced. i pick to advise you talk on your instructors first and ask what they are going to be utilising. finally, you will discover much less problems in case you whichever platform they're utilising.
