Not a problem my Phriend. I will be more than happy to answer your question. The band had a giant chess board behind them on stage. So far so good right?

They started 9/30/95 @ the Shoreline show. Before or during the first set, they made their move collectively as a band on this giant board. Then during the set break the fans could go to the Greenpeace table to discuss what move we as an audience should make.

Phish, as well as fans would make 1 move per show. If you listen to bootlegs of any of the later '95 shows, you will hear this.

Results: Phish won the first show on 11/15/95, with the audience conceding. A second match was played with the audience winning on, you guessed it, 12/31/95 with the Band conceding. Thus the recording you hear is the band giving up the second game!

Fun Fact: Phish holds the all-time record for chess played before a live audience, beating out world champion chess players!! So many shows, so many moves huh?

If you have ANY other phish related questions, I'm your man!!

I have listed a URL that gives a little more detail than i have told you, ENJOY!
