I recently recived a check for a donation the person who sent the check wants me to take the amount promissed to me out then send the remaining ballance to someone by western union the remaining ballance is a large amount. Just want to know if I should cash the check and send the ballance or is this a scam and I should not do it at all

This is definitely a moneylaundering scam. You should definitely not do it at all.

Moreover, such scams are often used to finance criminal activity and even terrorism. You should report this incident to the proper authorities. If you are in the US, please see the weblink below.

Uh, let's see . . . why would someone send you a check for a lot of $$$$ when only part of it is for you ?
They can send you a check , why can't they send the other person a check ?
Because the check is bogus and you will send real $$$ back to their friend before the bogus one rips your bank account .
Which part of this was not obvious from the get go ?
