What is a good idea for a teen book?

I think the teens I work with are always struggling with identity--Who am I, Who do I want to Be? etc. That explains why Harry Potter books are so popular--we all know who he is, that he's special, that he's the hero. It also explains the Clique books. So whether you go for fantasy or realism, the themes remain the same.

A teenager has to choose between drugs and being cool and being herself/himself. And their family member is dying which makes the choice even harder,
