Like all teams that go to the big game, the next year they all go down hill. This is just the begining. Next they'll probably get rid of Brian Greese. Honestly, I hope they screw it up, better for the Packers.

1. Thomas Jones asked for a trade. He was up for free agency after this year anyway, and he was a parasite in the locker room. The Bears are going to rely more on Benson now, and don't forget that they still have Adrian Peterson who could be a starter on many teams. Also, they were able to move up 30 slots in the draft. It was a good move by the Bears.
2. They didn't fire their Ron Rivera, they just didn't resign him. He was asking for way too much money. Don't forget that it is Lovie Smith's defense. He created it and is the one who calls all the shots on defense. They do not need Ron Rivera. Plus they really like Babich the guy who will be replacing him. Another good move by the Bears.
3. Briggs is a baby and forgot that he signed a contract. How many people out there do you see complaining about 7 million a year? Just Briggs because he's a greedy little bastard. That is going to be a hole the Bears will need to fill if they do trade him. But remember that they also have some young talent at the LB position.
So overall the Bears will be fine for next season. Their defense will be even better when they get Tommy Harris and Mike Brown back from injury. Their offense will also improve as Rex shapes into a better quarterback. Bash Rex all you want, but remember that he had 7 games with a 100 plus passer rating. Bears are going to be the favorite in the AFC and will prove everyone wrong when they win the Superbowl. Hopefully.

The Bears front office used to always make moves that went against conventional NFL wisdom.
The last few seasons they have really drafted well and have signed some good free agents.
This offseason reminds me of when they brought in Rick Mirer when everyone knew he couldn't play. The Bears will still be good next year, but Thomas Jones is not going to be easily replaced.

I totally agree with you!! Why wouldn't you want to stay with a team who just made it to the superbowl!!! Without Thomas Jones i don't know what they are goin to do!!! I don't know why they fired Ron...he was like the best Defensive Coordinator ever. I think the only thing they have goin for them is devin hester!!! And i am a huge bears fan!!

i don't know if they are joking, but i am a huge jets fan, so i couldn't be happier with the trade they did. Other than that, Briggs is just looking out for himslef. He has the talent that could allow him to make it in almost any city, and he fells he should. The bears FO won't deal him and they franchised him. With the DC, i don't know what they were thinking.

And this is why the team that loses in the Super Bowl, almost never goes back to the Super Bowl, more or less the playoffs in the next season (except for the Bills).
