As much as some people want to ignore it and try to make this about racism or weight-ism or whatever, the real difference is this: Frenchie posed for a porn site (a public, naked-for-pay endeavor) and Antonella posed for private pictures, meant only for her boyfriend. Frenchie knowingly and purposely put her nude pictures out into the world -- thus choosing to represent herself as a porn model at one point in her career -- and Antonella did not; she shared something intimate *privately* with her boyfriend (which, at her age, is both legal and not scandalous (unless you're a prude or still young enough to think sex is "icky")), and somebody else leaked her pictures, presumably against her wishes.
You can claim all day long that this doesn't make a difference, but it does. And, though you obviously already have an opinion and will never choose my answer as the best one for that reason, reality will prove me right. How? Because Frenchie's lawsuit against American Idol will never come to fruition. Her lawyers will tell her that she doesn't have a case, and she will abandon it. Even if they don't and she attempts to pursue it, the case will be thrown out. Why? Because, legally, she has no leg to stand on. The difference, for both the legal system and the producers of AI, is one of intent. AI doesn't have a problem with people having sex or being naked -- everybody above a certain age does it; they have a problem with people having sex or being naked in public for money. They don't have a problem with nudity when engaged in privately between two consenting adults; they have a problem with someone being paid to get naked in a public forum.
People keep saying things like, "American Idol should recognize that everyone has skeletons in their closet." I would suggest that they do, and the fact that they didn't kick Antonella off proves this. The difference is that they draw the line between things the contestant has done (working as a porn star, getting arrested for drug possession, assaulting someone) and things that have been done to the contestant (leaking their private photos, getting mugged by someone else, etc). You can argue that "Antonella posed for the pictures," but that part doesn't matter. Again, they don't care that people are naked when that nudity is intended to be private; they care that people are naked in public for money.
A good example: Melinda Doolittle is an awesome singer. Probably the best vocalist on the show right now. So, what if a paparazzo climbed up into a tree, used a telephoto lens, and shot a picture of her -- through a closed but not frosted window -- sitting on the toilet in the bathroom, and then published it in the National Enquirer and posted uncensored versions of it on the internet? Should she be kicked off the show? Would AI kick her off for that? Of course not, because she didn't choose to put those pictures out there. By *your* logic, however, she should be kicked off because she chose to take off her pants in the bathroom and sit on the toilet. But that's ridiculous. She was doing something private, and somebody else invaded that privacy and made the private moment public.
As far as the Frenchie thing goes, one thing to remember is that the show is aimed at a broad audience, including young teens, children, grandmothers, etc. The idea of an "American Idol" is that he or she should be someone *everyone* can look up to (in some way), and who doesn't promote things you wouldn't want to promote to young children, young teens, etc. Sort of like Miss America. If they were just to let everyone on, regardless of their past, you'd soon see contestants who'd had anal sex with 3 guys and a sheep simultaneously on an internet site (but just happens to have a good voice). Is that who you want 11 year old girls worshipping and emulating? AI doesn't, and it's their show. If you want to give all the porn stars a chance to become pop stars, start your own show...
I mentioned Miss America earlier. Another good example of this same situation is Vanessa Williams. Her Miss America crown was taken away. Was it because she was black? No. It was because they discovered that she'd posed for a (relatively softcore) lesbian layout in Penthouse. Miss America has an image it wants to promote, and "sex layout model for Penthouse magazine" is not part of it. Do you think that they (or any of us) are under the impression that no Miss America has ever been naked or had sex with their boyfriend or significant other? Of course not. And if someone leaked private sex pictures of Miss America, she wouldn't lose her crown over it (UNLESS the pictures showed her having sex with a horse while snorting coke -- both illegal activities).
Anyway, the test of who's right here is simple: If you're right, then Frenchie's case will go through and she will win. If I'm right, her case won't go through at all. I will make the prediction right now: Keep an eye on the story, and you'll see that I'm right...
Oh, btw: All that being said, I did NOT like Antonella at all, and I'm glad she was finally booted off the show last night. She was the weakest singer (and I use the word "singer" generously), and she had a horrible attitude. I didn't care about her pictures (or Frenchie's) -- she just was not good enough to be in the Final 12. Period.

I think it's because Frenchie was paid for her nude pictures and she was well aware that the public would see them. In Antonella's case some of the pics aren't even her and second the pics were taken for her boyfriend not the whole world. I don't think it's racism. I am sure if Antonella posed for a magazine and the pictures from the magazine surfaced well she would have been removed as well. I love how all of a sudden it's racism. IF people would work together instead of against each other we would have way better things to worry about than American Idol Scandal...

I am guessing that it is probably more fatism then racism. Although Frenchie should have stayed that was 6 years ago and the kids on Idol are allowed a lot more freedom then they were. I think Frenchie was a bigger deal because no one wants to see her that way. People think that Antonella is hot so they are not as offended by the pictures...

Listen, they're both skanks. Antonella is a skank, not because she allegedly posed nude for her boyfriend (nothing wrong with that), but because she's a skank. The story I've heard about her is that she posed for the guy who then turned on her and put her pics out there. Perhaps not great judgement on her part, but she's the victim. The other woman apparently willingly did whatever it was she did, and for pay? I'm not clear on the details. But you've got her an amateur and a pro. Anyone can make a stupid mistake in judgement, but it takes a little more effort to be a ho. It's certainly possible that A's looks helped her, but so what. Life's unfair.

Antonella has absolutely no talent when it comes to singing, I am very disappointed in Amer. Idol voters for keeping her on this long. I hope she's off this week!
