my roommate has sage telecom and im getting at&t dsl and phone service and only want that phone line to go to my bedroom but dont wish to pay $65 when i could do it myself when i look at the back of the phonejack i see that on the far left screw is red and yellow connected the second screw from left is black the 3rd is yellow and on the far right screw is two separate black wires and a green one which wires do i need to connect? so when they come thursday there gonna do something with the interface box outside and when they are done with that i wanna be able to have it ready and hooked up? dont know what other information to give if ur answer is the one that helps me do this ill give u max points thanx

there is also a tiny grey box with 4 wires green,red,black, and yellow can someone tell me what the techician would do ? so i can do it

Not sure what type jack you have but generally most phones are what is called jack modular. This is the small square plug on your phone that plugs into the wall. If you look closely at the plug you'll see there are 4 wires going in, this is in case you want to have more than 1 line. Generally the red and green are for the first line and the yellow and black are spares to be used if the red and green break or you want a second line added. If you don't have a line tester you can carefully remove 1 wire at a time from the phone jack and the pick phone, when you have no dial tone you will know what wires are going to your phone. You can then run a new wire to the interface box or move them over from the old connection.
