Why do people think and say that chinese are smarter than the average bear(everybody else)?

I've often wondered why people say that chinese people are smarter than most any other race.there is a 6 year old chinese kid that works with his dad at the flea market and it really seems that he is a 25 years old! he can count and wait on the customers just like his dad and he seems really above average, but could it be that he's been given a lot more of attention and home teaching where as the average kid just plays out side a lot and watches t.v. or are chinese people really smarter???

This would depend on the community the individual is in. If you go to a random school and surveyed the children in China you would probably see a similiar proportion of students who are smart, mediocre, and trouble makers.

This is why the Jews seems smarter when they're just as smart or dumb as anyone else.

If you were the only Chinese person or one of the few families in a city. You would likely work harder to succeed cause failing is not an option, if you know the community may discriminate against you. Now if you put a chinese person in a city with a huge chinese population you will notice a small portian will be geniuses and the rest be as normal as any other american children.

This is the same for Jewish people. When you're group is small in a city you stick together to support and help one another. That's why they succeed. But when the group is too large, they tend to abuse one another and form gangs or rival factions.

I have met many african americans from areas that are not very diverse and these kids are very intelligent and work hard. The ones from the big cities are just as smart and hard working but you will notice the ones from the small city more.

Now if Chinese were like 50% of the American population no one will talk about how smart they are or are a Model Minority.

The size is small and they live all over the place and don't just live in a few big cities.

Visit a Large City like LA, or Chicago and met Chinese people in the schools there, The pressure to study hard and and work hard is less cause they can always find a job in their community without worrying about discrimination.

I'm sorry if it's is long but it's a habit from writting so many long essays in College and overy analyzing.

No, it means you are the moron who goes giggling into a tattoo shop with a friend to hold your hand and then pick some CR@P off the wall to look cool. No one with a tattoo that 1000 other people has is especially smart. Get some Starbucks and get something pierced then get a life. Get a grip asuwish, how many other people do you message when they offend your delicate lack of sensibilities. Saturday night and flirting online??? Too many points indicate lack of a real life. It takes a long time to acrue that kinda (not so) cool points.

Most Asians, especially the ones who were born in their homeland are taught that education is the most important thing to live successfully. Asian parents try hard to ingrained in their kids the power of education.

In America, most parents don't pay much attention to how their kids are doing in school. And we should also think about the fact that schools in other countries have better way of teaching or handling the subject of education in their schools.

Its all about the society's emphasis on education and getting ahead. Like the Korean and Chinese exchange students at my school..they are very comitted to their schoolwork because they are pushed harder with work than the average American generally. Its just how their culture is.

" Ethnic Boosting " or " Cheerleading " is something every people on the face of the earth practices in one way or another, to one degree or another.

The pity is there's quite a bit of shamelessness about it to the point we don't all recognize how shamefully alike we all are.

hehehehe! i dont think so..! but they r good in trade. they have a civilization behind them that streches to thousands of years thats why u see them good as merchants. Plus, this kid that u used an example grow up in a family of merchants so what do u expect?

chinese only have intelligence in there side. the americans/caucasian have beauty in their side. just look at me, and then look a chinese. u would fall in love with me. there just smart, not beautiful. there noses are flat and fat the same as the afro-americans/africans.
