It's because we're the ones who give birth, so when our eggs die the blood from the lining of the uterus flows out. That and if guys gave birth or had periods, for started the human race as we know it would be dead and they'd complain more then usual.

Guys simply aren't strong enough for it :P

I was terribly shy about the whole process too, but have mostly gotten over it. Afterall, it's strange that no one wants to talk about something that happens, will happen, or has happened to 50% of the world's population. This site will answer every question you have ever had, as well as quite a few you never thought of. And did you know, there is an actual Museum of Menstruation?

the lining of the uterus bulids up every month to hold onto the egg that is realeased 1 tme per month if it is fertilized. If not fertilized, it breaks down(your period) and then starts to build up again for the next egg. If it IS fertilized, it catches it and acts as a cushion for the embryo, or baby- its not really blood

To make this as short as possible, through the month the uterus builds up and if a woman does not get pregnant then the uterus sheds the lining which is the period.

A woman's period is just the lining of the cervix shedding itself and getting really to become pregnant. Without a period, there is no way to get pregnant, short of invetro fertilization. Thats all it is.
