Good question. God said that he would not
destroy the world again by water. Fire is His
next preference. So I would be thinking towards
the nuclear idea. However there will be a lot of
other thing that will happen, and you mentioned
global warming. I feel that we are going to do
a lot of suffering by doing ourselves in by
pollution, global warming and a whole lot of
other things .

to be honest I am not sure- I think it will a combination of many factors.
for those who belive in god- I think it is simplest to say "god will end it"
but then- I think nature and humen together seem to be turnning against this world.
I believe a lot of the instability in nature is caused by man's actions- but not all.
and I believe nocluear disaster is edging ever closer.

maybe it's only my observation- and maybe I've only seen this because I had an interest in the end of the world- followinf seeing something about the Bible code which predicted the end of the world- but lately I have been noticing a lot more floods and storms, and hurricans- to the point where there was a huricanne in London!!!

and yes- I know the bible code was wrong (it predicted the end of the world will come in 2006- and well, the world is stil here)

but I still believe the end is coming- and will be the result of everal factors- I believe that the more serious the wars become- the more nature is interupted- and so the wars AND natural disasters will together bring the end of the world...

(unless there will be some "accident" and some 100% humanly made virus that kills everything is relased... that's always a possibility...)

[even after such an end the planet "earth" my still be- just not as we perceive it. there might be living beings- probably- but not as we know them. it would be "the end of OUR world"]

The earth will end in about 4 billion years when the sun finally runs out of fuel and expends to engulf the earth.

Global warming is not a threat to mankind, no more than the impending ice ages of 30 years ago. Nuclear war is becoming less a possibility and I think we have a pretty good handle on asteroids. We know that there is no risk for quite a few years. Its likely we will know how to deflect one by then.

Were mankind to die off my guess is that it will be through disease. It isn't a high probability either but I'd say it is the most probable. The only other reasonable possiblity is a super volcano like that under Yellowstone park.

I believe that God will let the human race go so far and then one day, the world will end without warning. The signs are pretty much appearing, such as 9/11, wars, massive hurricanes, threat of nuclear holocaust. About predictions, "Even the Angels do not know when the world will end.."

Well...I've heard several theories. One says that global warming at the pace it is going will kill us all within 70 years. Another says that nuclear war is at hand and will destroy the earth. I've heard still another theory saying that in April 2029 a meteor will pass close enough to earth for it to be sucked in by the gravitational pull.

Personally, I don't care. It probably won't happen during my lifetime, and even if it does, at least I'm going down in style.

First, a bit of terminology, from two of the most important philosophers of the last century:
"The world is the sum-total of objects of possible experience...."
(Edmund Husserl; "Ideas 1")
"The world is everything that is the case."
(Ludwig Wittgenstein, "Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus")
Not a word here about the planet earth, and the philospical tradition is consistent in this.

If you want to understand the philosophical questions that include "world", think "universe".
But "world" is broader, because the universe is generally taken to be the physical universe, while the world is all inclusive. But this isn't strict.

Some think that the universe will expand until it runs out of steam, and then contract back upon itself.

There's a poem about this called "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost. If by world you mean the actual planet earth, then I believe that when the sun burns out the earth will be decimated, though I'm not sure how. If you mean mankind, over population or perhaps our own stupidity and some weaponry will be involved. I do not believe we will exist long enough to see the end of the world, no matter how near it is.

Whose world? The world will continue to be here long after man has destroyed himself. Even if there is a huge nuclear war, it is unlikely to wipe out mankind completely. Each person's ending will be a unique story.

The best thing is to live in the only moment that ever exists: now.

when our sun cools into a red star it will envelope the Earth in its orbit and we will be burnt to a crisp. As to whether humans will wreck what is here today - we are but a dot on the letter i, we give ourselves too much impact credit. Ice ages and global warming cycles come and go - Our science of the last 50 to 100 years is trying to prove what impacts the Earth for 100,s of thousands of years - the Earth is billions of years old with more to go. We can't predict tomorrow's weather correctly and you think we can predict our own demise?

The world will end some day. On the contrary, the world will not end when no person is self-centered, but benevolence in creating the right environment for living. The aspect of environmental pollution will be crucial in the future, unless the self-centeredness that inherent in our development, out of repentance, accommodate a cause of pooling their expertise in making the environment a livable place for everybody.
