i've been to fuerteventura and lanzarote, both were very nice. big difference was lanzarote has little wind, so when hot, its very hot! fuerteventura had a nice wind to cool you off! you may not have this problem in april. things to do are fairly similar on both, i preferred fuerteventura as it was a little more quiet we found. Gran Canaria I haven't been to, but I know one part of it (Las americas maybe?!) is club 18-30. if you want to party, lanzarote is better than fuerteventura.

Tenerife is great - something for everyone. Playa das Americas or Los Christianos have good beaches (although some are black volcanic sand). I recently stayed in Costa del Silencio, which was fairly quiet, but plenty of good bars and food close by, and the local bus was really cheap and frequent, so can get to Christianos, Americas etc. ENJOY!! I'm booked up to go back again in October (and would move there tomorrow if I could convince my other half!!)

That's a huge and very subjective question. Perhaps the best thing for me to do is give you some tools to get a better understanding of what you want, where, the options and how much.

Firstly, visit the OK Spain website accessed via this link. It is the National Tourism Portal for Spain and well researched - the best source of info on Spain : http://www.tourismrankings.com/Spain/

Then when you have checked out some other comments here and elsewhere, decide where you want to stay. Do you want a quiet place, a place close to the nightlife , shopping , sandy beach , all in house at a resort , apartment living , luxury or budget hotel living.

Here's a tool where you can sort results by location , price , star rating and hotel name, plus check out the photos and amenitie descriptions. If you choose to book inside 21 days, very often you can find free inclusions.

Gran Canaria : http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain/Gran-Canaria-Island/
Playa Del Ingles: http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain/Gran-Canaria-Island/Playa-del-Ingles/
Las Palmas: http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain/Gran-Canaria-Island/Las-Palmas/

Tenerife Island:http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain/Tenerife-Island/
Playa de las Americas:http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain/Tenerife-Island/Playa-de-las-Americas/

I hope this helps you:

Iv been to Gran Canaria, it was 7 years ago and i didnt like it at all. It was very dirty and unsafe. In the meantime i have been in Tenerife i loved it would go back anytime i went in October and the weather was lovely! The resort i was in was "Playa de las americans". I would recommend it to all age groups there is something for everyone there.

I'v been to all the canary islands and enjoyed them all.
My only gripe would be the timeshare sellers. There a pain
for the first few days but then tend to leave you alone.
Never be tempted by their offers no matter how pissed
you are.

Ive been to Tenerife and hated it, their were cockroaches everywhere. i love Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria, its good for couples and families, Playa De Ingles is where all the night life is and is really popular with the gay scene they have Mardi Gras, and a shopping centre called the Yumbo that just comes alive at night time. have a nice time where ever you decide.

depending what age group you are in - Los Christiana's is mainly older couples, Las Americas is mixed aged, in April it will be mainly young families.
