Type in the object in the search engine and see if you can find places that might be selling things. I usually go with ebay myself though.

I usually go to e-bay and get a feeling for the price. You may have something more valuable than past auctions have bid. If you decide to sell place a reserved bid on your item. That means it won't sell till you get that price or more.
Bookstores have all the latest collecting books. Kovels antique price guide is a really good source for antiques.
It really depends on what you have.
e-bay is a good place to get great deal, but if you are selling you may not always get the price you wanted.
Just remember to research then sell. Get a second opinion too!
