my wife got a letter from the tenth international sweepstakes. she was told she was the first place winner. A sum of $49,900. the drawing took place in Las Vagas, Navada and the head office is in London, England. They sent her a check to endorce and sendback for $2,980. saying its for international clearance fees. They gave a phone number to contact them but we could not get through. Tel: +447877096847 and another number for London England +44787706847. Is this place for real or not? Or they just trying to get us to endorce this check and send it back to them?

This is a SCAM under no circumstances should you endorse anything. Did your wife even enter a competition? If it sounds too good to be true it most probably is and that telephone number is a mobile not a landline. I would suggest you put the letter in the bin and forget about it.

SCAM SCAM SCAM - check your phone bill quick. It may be a premium rate number.

What do you mean by endorse - do not give any personal details.
