What works for me is this:
get a garlic clove and crush it between your teeth, take some water and swish the resulting mash around in your mouth for a few moments. Swallow, and finish off the glass of water. Go to bed. Sleep 8-9 hours. Your cold will be about 3/4 ended by the time you wake up. By the third day, it's just a memory.

Get as much sleep as your body tells you to get. There is nothing you can do to make it go away quicker. You will have it at least 7 to 10 days. I have taken Zicam, and I know some use Airborne. That lessens the symptoms, and perhaps shortens the duration, but you have to start taking it at the first sign of the cold.

AT LEAST between 8 and 11 hours. Resting a lot will definitely make the cold go away faster--a rested immune system is the most effective at fighting off diseases.

When you are sick you need to get as much rest as you can. Sleep or rest is a way for your body to repair its self. so get as much as you can and drink plenty of water
