I have started taking birth control pills. I have taken the pills for one full month. Six pills into the second pack I had sex, we used a condom but it broke! Is there any chance that I am pregnant? I always take the pills at the same time but the first pill into the second pack i took 7 hours late.
Advice please?

To be certain, I recommend taking a pregnancy test. Not sure how long ago this incident occurred, but if it's been a week or two, a test might be able to help you out.

While the pill isn't 100% effective for everyone, chances are you're not pregnant. Taking a HPT couldn't hurt though. I don't know how long you have to be on the pill before it reaches it's maximum effectiveness, so a gyno visit may not be a bad idea if you're still worried, even if the HPT says negative. I must say that it's nice to see someone being so responsible for a change--on birth control AND using a condom. I wish there were more people that had your sense.

Yes there is a chance you could be pregnant! Had the guy ejaculated yet? Well, that doesn't really matter but it would increase the chance. Do you know if you were ovulating? A woman usually ovulates around two weeks after the start of her cycle (start of period). Eggs can last in the reproductive tract for over 24 hours and sperm for 72 so if you had sex even before ovulating and the little guys were hanging out and you then ovulated.... I would go to the doctor and check it out and probably you should stop taking the rest of the pills for the month and lay off the booze/drugs/cigarettes just in case. Also, take folic acid which is important to prevent neural tube defects in growing baby. Good luck!

You sound deeply frightened by the idea of pregnancy. More than likely, you are not pregnant. It would be very hard to determine pregnancy this early with a home test, so I would suggest waiting until your time of the month comes to be sure. If you skip your period, then you may want to invest in a test and even a trip to the OBGYN.

The real issue seems to be whether or not you are ready for intercourse and all of its consequences. An unplanned pregnancy should not frighten you this badly if you are truly ready for sex. What if you are pregnant? Do you have a plan? You say the condom broke, what about STDs? I would suggest staying on the pill and not having sex until you can do it comfortably.

For the first 7 days of taking the Pill, a girl should use an additional form of contraception, such as condoms, to prevent pregnancy. After 7 days, the Pill should work alone to prevent pregnancy. But continuing to use condoms will protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

So you said you were on your second pack of pills. You should have nothing to worry about, except for an STD. As for taking the last pill 7 hours late, your still fine. Make sure you take it everyday and close to the same time.

Wow, i feel your pain. I used to freak out when something like that happened to me. If you have been on it for more than 2 weeks you shouldnt get pregnant. and seven hours is not worth worrying about, I've gone 2 days without it and I havent gotten pregnant. Once the hormones are in your body, they stay there for quite a length of time. Should you decide you want a baby someday it takes anywhere from 3-6 months of not taking birth control to be able to get pregnant. I hope this makes you feel better.

As long as you didn't totally skip the pill for a day, you should have enough in your system to be fine. But, also remember they are only like 97% effective too, so using condoms is a great idea to catch the other 3% and any STDs. Smart girl!

You should be fine. When you are on hormonal birth control, there is very little difference in risk with or without a condom. (So little risk that most doctors will not even recommend Plan B for a condom break such as yours.) However, you are at risk for sexually transmitted infections. You should be tested within the next 6 months, and then 6 months after that.

Chances are you are probably not pregnant but give it a few weeks- if you don't get your period when you are supposed to according to your pack of pills than take a pregnancy test. I'm sure it will turn out fine though! Sounds like you are super diligent!

while it technically is possible to be pregnant now, it is HIGHLY unlikely. i started having unprotected sex with my [ex]husband 1 week after i got on the pill. i rarely took them at the same time everyday. i didn't get pregnant for 2 years. however, 3 months after getting off the pill, my son was on the way! i think you have very little to worry about! good luck!

It is VERY unlikely that you would get pregnant. I never took them at exactly the same time and my husband and I never used condoms while I was on the pill. Just relax, I'm sure you will be fine. You might want to look into getting tested for STD's to be safe if your partner has been with other people.
