just curious what does a background search involve?..just credit, and criminal background search???..thanks

Depends on the job.

Some jobs require a credit check, like at a bank (some employers do that just to see how well you can handle your own life), and/or criminal background check (also at a bank or any place high on security).

Some background checks will include education (verify high school and college), also a lot of companies now search public records for workers comp. claims filed and settlements received to see if you have a pattern of filing claims. Also check legal background (do you have outstanding warrants or convictions that are unresolved).
