There are 3 places to clean.

1. vacuum out the gas flame area using a long nose vacuum hose attachment

2 Open the blower door, pull out the blower, the clean that wheel out. Sometimes vacuum works , other times its greasy and requires a solvent or strong cleaner. due to grease

3. Clean the Air condition coil above. That requies an access side hole and get in there with a small steamer and clean those coils out and the drain pan and drain hole.

4. Remove the filter and vacuum that out, If you have electrostatic, take out the grids and wash them down.

A good serviceman does all this and some more adjusting of the flames to air on the furnace and checks the gas valve pressure with a manometer.

Don't ever try that yourself. Gas furnaces require some amount of disassembly for a proper cleaning, and if you put it back together wrong (burner alignment, for example) you can create a dangerous situation. Just pay the 69 bucks and get it done right.
