If I have short term health insurance, and I go in for chest pain, how difficult will it be for me to get health insurance in the future? I'm in my mid-20's...

Go to the doctor. Odds are it will be acid reflux or stress related and nothing to do with your health. Then nothing will be noted. Meanwhile, you should get a more permanent health policy in case something does pop up. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

The only way you would have issues is if you are signing up for an individual policy. Espeacially a PPO. Some insurance company's that offer individual PPO's do not allow pre existing conditions, for example, with Healthnet of California, if you had cancer and wanted to sign up for a ppo individual policy, then you would have to wait six months to get coverage. If you ever get benefits through a company that you work for, it should be no problem, but remember, HMO's are very different from PPO's and PPO's usually if not always have pre existing condition clauses.

Without a more serious pre-existing condition (not to belittle chest pain, though), you shouldn't have any problems at all. Most health insurances will accept you even with pre-existing conditions, although at times there are waiting periods...........

It shouldn't be difficult at all. Especially if you get a job that has good medical benefits. Then you are entitled as an employee to receive benefits.
