What is a good score for the sat?

I made a 1340. Is that good or bad?

1340 was out of the new sat, 2400

I thought 1600 and higher was good

I can't say if the score is good or bad because it depends on where you want to apply. I would also need to know what you got for each individual component.

Its not a very good score but I'm sure you can improve. If you buy the Collegeboard book for the SAT and go through you should be able to improve your score. But if you don't have the self discipline to do that I would recommend taking a class if you can. I know when I took a class my score improved by more than 200 points.

Part of the SAT is about test taking skills and you don't usually learn that at school, also the SAT has a lot of tricks and if you took a class they could teach you to look out for them.

a 1340 out of 2400 is horrible. That is below the national average. If you had gotten 1500 that would be average. I hope you are able to get into a state college, but you will probably end up at community college.

1600 is a perfect score, 1340 is decently above average. Just make sure you have community service hours and a handful of extracurricular activites for the resume

When did you take this test? The old SAT was out of 1600, and the new one is now out of 2400. They switched from the old SAT to the new SAT in March of 2005 (I think).

That score will get you into most colleges. If you're looking at an ivy league school then I don't know.
