I hear air signs are (according to some sources) on the negative side, shallow, uncaring, emotionally cold and insensitive. I'm a gemini, and that is almost the exact opposite of my nature. I'm very intuitive, caring, and I go out of my way for other people to help them. I try to be warm and a humanitarian, and I'm somewhat sensitive to criticism, but strangely my horoscope says otherwise. I have a ascendant in virgo and a moon in sagittarius, two signs known to have no emotion either. Can anyone explain why I have some water sign traits in here, or just awfully intuitive and sensitive characteristics for an air sign?

huh? u know what, all the criterias u've describe urself is like a true geminis to me. seriously. met with one gemini and he's as same as u are.
intuitive, caring, warm and humanitarian.. they all describe geminis people. try to look geminis personality from the bright side of it. i've read tons and millions about gemini personality and all of them describe the criteria u've mention above.
there are of coz some geminis who appear uncaring, superficial with their feelings etc but it all depends on family upbringing.. maybe they dont like to show their feelings towards other bcoz of the fact that they might appear weak and woman-like attitude. big ego and pride, yeah.. they are sometimes. but once u know them deeper, they are just like other people..

I don't know if you call it "unemotional", but I don't really get affected by things. I am a Libra with a moon in Sagittarius (high five! *), ascendant in Aries. Not only that, emotions seem kind of pointless. That's why I don't really like reading fiction or watching movies like The Notebook. They center around "feelings" while I prefer to actually LEARN (or laugh: my vice is the show SCRUBS). When something bad happens, I'm usually just kind of shocked and confused for a moment, then I forget about it. I'm an INCURABLE optimist. =) I hate sappy people who want to sit around and "pour their feelings" rather than actually doing something. When I try to cheer them up or set them straight w/ logic, they just get offended and say I don't know how to "empathize". Pfft. =P
You know what, I take back what I said about having no emotions, I *do* get ANGRY.
But again, that lasts for at most an hour, no matter what! =P
Yeah, I'll stop rambling. Poor thing, you're actually reading this! lol. Well, if don't fit the Gemini description, just consider yourself a SPECIAL Geminian rather than a dime-a-dozen one!

Sometimes you gotta look at all your twelve sign houses to have a complete analysis of your personality and stuffs. As to my knowledge, your Venus sign is the place where to look at your emotional side. I am very emotional inside as well but none of my "major" signs known to have this trait.

I'm a Gemini and I'm the same as yourself... I think what JayK says is right, plus I think our lack of emotion is more to do with how well we deal with any crises or personal problems, in that there's a very matter-of-fact approach to it rather than an emotional one.

Air signs may appear cold or insensitive on the outside, but it is different on the inside. We go to great lengths to hide what we are feeling and are essentially, very emotional people.
We do it mainly we don't like people knowing our business or we don't want to bring you down when we are down.
