I was thinking about upgrading my stock trigger for my Ion. If you could give me some advice on what kind of trigger to buy and why, that would be helpful.

The stock trigger on the Ion is a good piece. There are many home modifications you can do to it to "personalize" it more if you want. Of course these will void the warranty on the Ion if you perform them. You can find modifications at pbnation.com

There are a lot of different replacement triggers out there to choose from as seen here... http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/BrowseCatalog-Start;sid=nVTdBeEDzQTdrqTteFwdrevKFUB1zdXfBvU=?CategoryName=paintball-gun-parts-and-upgrades-smart-parts-gun-upgrades-ion-parts-ion-triggers

I've shot with the NewDesignz Roller Blade and Roller Saw and prefer them over the more contoured triggers out there. It's easier for me to walk a trigger on a stick shape than a knobby one, but this is personal preference.

I have a cp trigger and it feels pretty good. Try going to your local paintball store and just try out different triggers.
