The most valuable trait, is first and foremost, to have an employment history of being 'honest' in all you do in life; Also, have a work history that supports honesty, loyal, patience, understanding, kindness, that you want to make a difference in your employment record and your association with your co-workers. Life is too short to be any other way.. And to remember always, that you co-workers, are your brothers and your sisters.. And the final thing is to always be "in check" with were you are standing in life, and is this the place you want your co-workers, your friends and family to remember you, that none of them would be disappointed in having known you.......!!!!!

It's hard to narrow it down to only one trait. There are several, that when equally applied make up a good candidate.
I look for someone who is honest. If I can't trust them with my business, then it's over before it begins.
They need to be ambitious. It doesn't matter if I am hiring for a part time associate, or a store manager, they need to have the ambition required for success. If you become complacent, or content with "the way things are", then you have already failed.
You should have the right attitude. (not the attitude that my teenage daughter has!!), but "choose" to be successful, "choose" to work with the team to get things accomplished.
Above all, you need to have confidence. Confidence in yourself, and in those around you. If you believe that you can do the job, then the customer will feel more comfortable around you.
Sorry that I can't narrow it down to just one trait, but like I said, you need to have the "whole package" to be successful.

Agreed. The energy level that the applicant shows to the prospective employer shows the latter that he is willing to put out his best effort to promote the company he want to join with.

Not an easy answer. We require a decent blend of honesty, integrity, experience, flexibility and motivation.
