Because they don't have to be efficient. All government agency's are lazy. We pay them either they are good or not.

Two possibilities.
1) It's because they're jam packed with millions of letters that must be sent out everyday. They must also screen everything for anthrax and other things.
2) It's run by the government. I mean the government has done such a spectacular job with the DMV, what do you expect from the post office?

Because the people who run Canada Post are nothing but a bunch of unreliable trash. I sent an application for my insurance licence to the Insurance Council of British Columbia 2 months ago (within Vancouver) and still they haven't received anything today. A friend of mine has bought a PS4 online for over $400 and Canada Post sent it to someone else! Don't use Canada Post for anything unless you want to lose everything for 'charity.'

So slow? Compared to what? It is very unfair to say that our US Postal Service is so slow; it's tantamount to saying they are inefficient. And they are certainly not!
The USPS is doing a wonderful job considering its limited resources, human and non-human. Just think about it - they are handling thousands and thousands of mails/packages per day yet they can do it for a fraction of the cost of what the UPS or FedEx would charge. A letter from Houston, TX costs 39 cents to send to Glendale, CA - takes 3 days via the Post Office. To send the same letter via UPS costs about 5x more and it would take about the same number of days. Who's slow now?

USPS had much quicker service years ago. I often don't get my mail until 7:00 at night! I believe a different class of people work there now. They truly do not care.

I'd agree with Craig S.
Plus, its worse in other countries. US Postal Service is actually pretty speedy and loses few letters compared to many other countries.

Thanks to "Inday" for your answer. I believe it tells all. Besides that, one of my sons is a letter carrier and it's like someone slapping me in the face when they criticize the postal service. Also, my dad retired from the Post Office Department.

CDs are usually shipped via media mail which is cheaper and also slower. Also, your CD has to cross the border and will have to pass through customs.
