Best friends should send emails to each other on the computer. In the emails that they send each one can ask how the other friend is doing.

Hi there,
Maybe you guys can start a chat group and manage it.. Put games, jokes, and whatever you guys want this way you have total control of the kind of group you would like to start... I just think that this is one option..
Good luck either way trying to find out and hope that it all works out for you two..
