I understand how the electric car works, but why can't they make them stylish? I have yet to see one electric car that i would want to drive. I am for change. I am for alternative fuel, but there is no excuse for the odd designs that have come off the assembly lines. The reason nobody will buy one is because they're UGLY CARS! How come an electric car can't look like a scion, accord, or a sentra? I am starting to wonder, is it just pressure from the oil companies to try and stall change?

Not all EVs are ugly. You could have an EV conversion, for instance. Any car can become an electric car, and it can cost as little as $5000. Details on this page:

You asked for an electric Scion? Here's one:

Then, we have electric sportscars:

And finally, an electric pickup truck:

The Phoenix electric pickup truck - using new, advanced Altairnano batteries - can:

-Travel up to 250 miles per charge
-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.
-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.
-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)

The truth is quite simple, ask yourself, can it be a coincidence that not one of the car manufactures even today who make ev cars have made one that doesn't look disgusting. Bmw's ev is ugly as anything and bmw obviously have a history and reputation for aesthetic cars.

Also, there is more room to work with without the petrol engine so in theory they should be sexier, lighter and more aesthetic.

Ultimately, there is only one logical explanation. The car manufacturers do not want them to become popular and sell.

Even hyrbid cars look better (notice they have a combustion engine*

Why do you think the car company's were bailed out? Jobs? grow up. The oil company's obviously had huge profits to loose if petrol cars stop selling and they have about 90% of our governments on pay roll.

I also suspect Kennedy was assassinated for this reason (yes they had electric car technology then, actually we as a society have had the tech since the 1900's and indeed people used to drive electric cars back then.

Educate yourselves, Wake Up.

In your opinion, electric cars are ugly. I don't think people are buying them for looks. They are buying them because they are friendly for the environment. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your question is a very subjective one, and you probably are only going to receive other's opinions.

lol i agree they are ugly the designers are probaly more into the design of the engine and the quality of the car to make it more global, enviorementally safe. maybe its the shape and exterioer design that would cost more. or maybe they never went to fashion class
