"I am here for you whenever you need me".

When I've been in that situation, nothing cheers me up. Too many people try to cheer you up (or worse, tell you how you'll look back some day and this will be nothing) and sometimes it feels like they are trivializing what you're going through, like they really don't want to deal with your issue. The best thing a friend can do, is just listen and be there, let you know that they care and will listen whenever you just need to vent off a little.

What to say all depends on the situation. A safe route is to find a card that offers comfort, support and shows that you are thinking of them. Let them know that you are there for them if needed, but at the same time, don't push yourself on them. Let them talk about how they feel and don't be afraid to acknowledge their feelings.

Just let them know that even though you won't always have the right words or actions, you'll always be there to listen to their problems and offer a shoulder to cry on.

You dont say a thing-

this is what my bf does when I am mad.

He takes my hand and swirls it in the air and sings a song- Coz if he ended up saying the wrong thing, I'd get more upset!

Just sing! & smile!

There's always something to do to cheer someone up. Most people feel depressed because they are selfish, volunteering your time, reading, helping others are good ways to cheer yourself up.

Remind them of solved problems of the past, and how insignificant those problems seem now. All things pass, even troubles.
