When did you have the baby? Are you breastfeeding?
Your doctor is probably just trying to prepare you for the worst, although he could do it in a less agressive way.
If you ARE breastfeeding and just had your child 9 months ago, you have nothing to worry about. Some breastfeeding mothers don't get their periods for 18 months after delivery!!
I would just breathe easy. Sure cancer could be causing the problem, but so could a hormonal imblance, stress, etc.

Don't start worrying....sicknesses of all types feed on worry! instead.....
Take your time, take a deep breath or two....go get your mom, sister(s), or best girlfriends...then take someone with you to go to a DIFFERENT doctor within the next week!
I'd say: go get a kind, understanding female ObGyn.
(at least that way, you'll hear news like that in a compassionate voice.)
Hope I used the right tone and you don't read this as rude....good luck.

No, he is an idiot. Sorry but my daughter didn't have her period for nine months either and she didn't have cancer, just a cyst on her ovary. I think that doctor should be hanged for such an insensitive answer when he doesn't have any results. Change him after the results come in.

It is common for larger women to not have their period for long stretches of time.
That doesn't make it healthy, just common.
Have your OB/GYN put you on birth control and that problem will take care of itself.
And keep up the weight loss! There couldn't be anything more healthy than that!

It could be polycystic ovary syndrome. I know someone who has it and she has ALL your symptoms -- overweight, no period, etc. It's not cancerous nor lifethreatening. Get a second opinion. This is your health at stake.

I would switch to another doctor. Him saying that you have something without even examining you is wrong.
Go to an Endocrinologist. It sounds like you have PCOS (overweight, absence of periods) or other hormonal disorder.

Ask your doctor to check your thyroid levels..(TSH test)
You may have hypothyroidism, which causes your period to go off cycle, and will also make you gain weight..
I have it so I know....
