RSV can kill babies.

Your cousin may be at higher risk ...is a he premie?

Bottom line...

The mom out ranks EVERYONE...

so whether you think it's stupid or not...

she's the mom and what she says goes.

Babies that come into contact with other children are more at risk of getting RSV ...

The baby is brand new...do you really want to risk that he gets sick when he's ONE DAY OLD? Just because you can't wait?

You're aunt...is not the one being stupid. Sorry

You'll have your whole life to visit with your cousin...for now..do what's safe for him. Wait.

And be more supportive..jeez!

Well, it is RSV, cold and flu season. A newborn does not have the antibodies it would need to fight off an infection or cold of any kind. I can understand that your aunt is cautious, and you should not get too upset about this. She is just trying to do what she thinks is best for her baby. And I'm sure you will get to see your cousin soon.

some people are really picky after they havee a baby and now they are real cautious about the babies, they won't let you hold them until you hav a gown on or until you've scrubbed your hands it's the hospitals it's not necessarily your aunt doing it.

You are not immediate family to your aunt and cousin. Immediate family consists of mom, dad, brother, sister.

don't be upset, she just wants to be careful and keep to immediate family. We all get exposed to viruses no matter how careful we are. It's nothing personal.

Unless the baby is a preemie, I think your aunt is being paranoid. Let me guess - it's her first?
