Never just google or Yahoo for a publisher, thats how the "paid ads" of vanity publishers will pop up and publishers that you won't like ...Publish America is a bad one too.

The best thing to do is go to your book shelf or book store, check books in your genre and see who published them. Most likely you will find a couple of good ones.

Agents are also mentioned by some authors, check out the acknowledgements for an agents name or listing.

There are ways of finding agents here:

For lists of publishers in each genre:

They update info weekly, far as I know. You can find magazines, book publishers, and ezines for most of your projects.

Check it out for great info on the best in the world of publishing.

This is from the Peachtree Q & A list:

Q: How much would you charge me to publish my book?

A: Publishers don’t charge authors to publish their books. If we agree to publish your book, we take on the responsibility of editing, designing, and producing your book. We arrange to sell your books to stores and libraries and schools and we pay you a percentage of the sales. We don’t print books either; we contract with book printers to produce the books that we publish.

First: Locate the "search" function at YA.
Second: type in publishers or publishing
Third: Read all of the responses.

I'm not being a smart-alec. I'm dead serious. This question is asked five times a day. It has been answered hundreds of times by very thoughtful folks who put effort into providing accurate information.

Consider it the first test as to whether or not you have a chance to be a successful writer. Can you take the initiative to actually look for the information that is readily available to you with about two or three clicks of the mouse? Or are you the type that will sit around and wait for others to do the work for you, then lament that you can't find a publisher when you never really looked.
