I've had many "best friends" through out my life. Met them at work, or school, or then my children's school. As long as our lives were basically the same (meaning we had a lot in common with each other) we were close. When things changed and we changed with them we were no longer as close. Most I dont even talk to anymore. We have nothing in common. Its not strange not to have a best friend. And its hard trusting someone completely with all of your thoughts. It takes time, and trial and error.
Im sure one of the acquaintances you talk about has the potential to be a best friend. Ask one of them if they want to go have a drink or see a movie. Ask a couple of them till you find the right one. It could end up that each and every one of the acquaintances you have right now, turn out to be very good friends of yours for years.
And most importantly.......YOURE NOT WEIRD!
Oh, I didnt answer your question! LOL No, I dont have a best friend at the moment but I know there will be a time again when I do. Cant wait!

My assisstant director is like my best friend and we met on Christmas a few months ago. And unless we're going to the same college, we might not be friends anymore. And the thing is, we're both working on a movie together and we've become so close. He's a really cool guy and I guess you'd say we're potential best friends. But to answer your question in another way, I used to hagve a best friend. My AD's name is JP and my other friend was Matt. The day Matt and I stopped being best friends is the same day that JP and I met.

Aww, I've been there, it get's awfully lonely like that. I went a few years like that and I was miserable the whole time until I finally met someone and became friends with them. You don't HAVE to have a best friend, but you can try and become best friends with one of your "acquaintances". Good luck--I hate being alone, too.

you probably dont trust any of your good friends enough to want them to be your "best friends". Maybe if you begin to confide in somebody, your bond will thicken, and you will become better friends and eventually they will become your "best friends". I put it in quotes because the term "best friend" is relative. You do not NEED to have a best friend as long as you have people you can confide in. It is not weird to have no best friend.
Finally, a best friend is not someone who you look for, you stumble across them when you least expect to.
Good luck!

you don't just meet a best friend. It takes time. A best friend is someone youv'e known long enough to accept them for who they are and they accepting you the same way. Someone you can count on, confide in,someone that you can laugh and cry with, and know that you would never want to lose that friendship

No not weird at all, it just shows that you are smart and that you take your time and do not call just any one best friend.
That is reserved for those that you know deserve to be called that. It shows that you are smart to enough to know that not every one will and can be your best friend, you take your time to know who really is worth calling you best friend.
Good for you, you really should be proud of your self! Two thumbs up for you!!

i have several but friendships take time... you're in a new situation... just talk to people and hang out with them when you have free time... the close friendships will come.
