there are parts of human nature, and behaviours, too, that are described as evil. the thoughts, actions, and pattern themselves are not evil, nor are they good, they just are. evil is a descriptive term, not a separate entity. like colours. they are used to describe other things. people know and recognise them, but one cannot go out, pick up a real thing, and say "this is a red." there is no "force" out there that embodies the colour red. red is not a thing, though there are things that are red. am i making any sense?! anyway, evil is like that. it is a term humans use to describe the thoughts or actions of another, or maybe even themselves. it is not actually something, even a part of something, like human nature.
that's my opinion, anyway.

It is very rare that other animals will be called evil, so it is a human thing. Most people will agree that some acts are evil. Whatever word we use to describe this behavior, humans can be a lot more cruel and barbaric than any other animal. When we are, the 'animal' side is usually blamed. Or Satan, Guns, Booze etc.
Evil seems to be situational, it is possible to avoid circumstances where you might act badly. By the same token, examples of good acts are also abundant and so this must be a part of human nature too.

I do not believe that being evil is a part of our nature. Far and away it is our environment and what we learn from it that informs our behavior. (Note that in my definition of evil, actions are not evil unless the perpetrator is aware of the bad outcome.)
Many people mistake certain human instincts with evil. Ever notice that children don't share too well unless they are taught to do so? We instinctively are selfish, but I contend that it is for simple survival reasons and that in the early stages of our development we are actually unaware of the bad outcome for others due to our selfish behavior.
In a healthy brained human, as our brains develop we learn more and more about relating to others. Initially we realize that sharing with others can make us feel better by having others like us and treat us in kind. Eventually we develop empathy by understanding that other people feel things just as we do.
Also, I can believe that there are certain hormone levels, brain configurations, and other unique inherent characteristics of different people which make them more or less susceptible to channelling bad experiences and lack of social acceptance into purely hateful actions. This means that there are probably a few people out there who are capable of being set off by the smallest of things into senseless evil.
Essentially, almost all actions we see as evil are born from the combination of some simple instincts for survival, a less than well developed sense of empathy, and some bad experiences.

Evil becomes possible with freedom. Small evils are just mistakes, like sneering at the Starbuck's clerk when you're in a bad mood. We all screw up, and we all screw up morally, and commit evil. Don't make such a big (NO, NO not me!!!) deal of it. Just be forgiving and tolerant of what is forgivable and tolerable, and keep the list of what isn't short. And try to clean up your act as best you can.
Is it a part of human nature? I guess, since freedom is part of adult human "nature". But so is good.
But it's better to think of them as behavioral options, not as attributes of persons.

If you believe that we as humans are born into sin, and with sin comes evil doings, and yes as humans I think that evil is a part of human nature that we must struggle with everyday. As humans we hate, lie, steal, and murder. Those things are bad and bad = evil!!!

Yes it is, that's why this world is a living hell. Some people just give up to their evil nature because it's the easiest way out.

I think evil is a learned trait. No one is born evil. So evil is part of nurture, not human nature.

Yes, human beings can be so bad and cruel that we can name them EVIL. In fact we are the actual evils. Satan just tempts, but human acts.
