Cooking for measuring ingredients.

Sports for player statistics and averages(percents are used, but percents are also fractions, for example, 65% of the time, Jack will hit a home run. 65% is also 65/100, or 13/20)

I could think of more, but I should do my own math homework now.

Fractions in real life instances? where have you been? In shopping of course! if you want 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, etc this can be applied when buying meat products from the butcher, or produce from the fruit & vege shop. remember fractions are also often expressed in percentages and what better example than percentage sales! 10-50% off! Or buy one get one free that's half price! or in not-so-pleasant example, some taxes are 10% or 1/10 on top of marked price such as gst. or a 0.1% increase in interest rate can affect your home loans etc. Go to a shopping centre and you'll find your examples there! Here seeing "Everything 1/2 Price" is not unusual in a shop.

I'll be glad to give you a list!
*cooking (1/4 cup of sugar)
*time (1/5 of a second)
*polls(3/10 people prefer jumoo)
I'd say those are the most frequent and resonable. Yes, pizzas are cut into eights but how many times do you go "I want an eight of a pizza"? Never. Some of the answers abouve are unrealistic.
