not the same thing but sometimes combined
kangaroo tops have a single pocket the front that you can put your hands in
a hoodie is just anythign that has a hood
generally kangaroo tops have a hood so thas y u mayve thougt they are the same

kangaroo tops are usually pullover the head tops, no zipper up the front or anything. a kanagroo top can be a hoodie if it has a hood on it. but not all hoodies are kangroo tops.
hoodies just refers to the fact that the garment has a hood on it.
