i am not sure they are useless. And environmental laws cover everything from airplane pollution to not building an addition on your home.

i sometimes feel like they are usless, cause...say you make a law that no one cant cut some old growth forest down, well all it takes is for some politician to reverse that law for a week and the forest is gone and all that work and time and money you put in to pass the protective law and years you spent defending it from republicans is destroyed in a week and the forest cant be put back once its gone. So it just sucked 10 years of your life to give a tree ten years longer. And your kids are still mad at you cause all the trees are gone when they grow up.

They aren't. Just think if there would be none. We would look like a Dumpster instead of Blue=Earth rotating in the Galaxy, well you know what I mean, right?

This will give my age away somewhat, (I don't care, for real), but my grade school made campaign posters for "Litter Bugs", we were in the News Paper's and they put our work in store front windows. Today, many moons later, you can get a $500.00 fine or more for throwing your bags & such out of your car. That is progess in a nut shell.

I keep up with the Science web-sites. They say astroids and eruptions have happened already and the Earth has not been destroyed. How true, BUT FOR ALL THOSE WHO think GLOBAL WARMING is bull, The Earth wasn't destroyed, but the inhabitants were. How stupid can a scientist be to state such a hypocritcal statement.

Ecosystems are very fragile and delicate. It is hard to legislate protections for every single thing. It is also hard for lawmakers to keep pace with technology. People didn't know that freon harmed the Ozone layer until after millions of people had air conditioning. Many laws are too lenient, and are easily worked around. People can substitute one illegal, damaging thing with a legal, but equally damaging thing. People may also ignore laws. If there are no consequences for breaking the laws, then the laws themselves are pretty worthless.

Because no one implements them! How rude! But don't cry when were starving and freezing to death. And a source of fresh water will be worth more than oil!!

Environmental laws now are based more on politics than science.

Examples:

-Outlawing lead shot in hunting, then lead sinkers
-Reducing carbon emissions even though global warming isn't proven to be man made
