Well let's look at what color is. Color is just the way you see a pigment when light is reflected off it. Basically what that means is that if the lighting is different, the color is seen differently. For example, in one mirror you can could look great and in another you could every single skin imperfection. This is because flourescent light or generic yellow light bulbs make color look different than natural light or white light light bulbs. You can get those at health food stores. Anyway, just like your skin look different in different lights, it also look different with different colors next to it. Someone with olive skin looks like there skin is even warmer with a cool color like purple next to it. Eyes are the same, in different lights and when you wear different clothes, or if you didn't sleep and have dark undereye circles, you eye color can be percieved differently. The color pigments themselves were layed down when you were an infant though. When most are born they have gray colored eyes, and then soon after the pigments are developed based on their DNA. The same thing happens as hair color is layed down. A lot of people were blonde as babies, then later as the DNA for their color is layed down, they become brunnets. I hope I helped!

I think they get a little lighter with age but your skin tone changes as well, so maybe they just look lighter. I have noticed now I am in my fifties I can't wear the same colours I used to .You have to be more subtle other wise you look like a painted doll.

when I was very young, probably around 3 my eye color changed. I had bright baby blue eyes. Then at the age of 3, they changed to green. Now I'm in my teens and they are a goldish color, they match my hair! I do not know why they change though, it's still a mystery to me.

it's just over time.. who knows why. it probably has something to do with heredity, like you have some random gene that changes your eye color.

your eyes CAN change color, not just tone (ie i know someone whose eyes turned from brown to green, they were about 12 or 13 or maybe 14)

not really. It is geneticly tranfered from your parents but it is true that when you are born your eye colour can be different from what you have. But most of the time you cant only if you wear those contact lenses
