I feel like it's all in how you present yourself, present yourself as a women that demands respect! How can a man or anyone else, respect you if you have no self-respect!? Also many people don't treat others with respect because they don't respect their selves either! You deserve respect, but you need to believe you do and when you do, you will be pleasantly surprised and will begin to attract men who respect you!! Confidence is the key to attracting the same kind of people into your life! Good luck and don't settle girl!!

Well it would be nice, but then again back in the day women stayed home and had babies. That is rare now a days that women do not work and are not more independent. The world is just changing and people are not being raised to respect each other. It is like being on the bus and seeing an old person get on and most people do not move for them either. It is not just men, it is people.

Men don't do that anymore because many women stopped wanting that done for them. Some still do have manners, but others figure if women want to be treated equally then they don't have to do those things.

That bothers me too. Luckily, I have now trained my boyfriend in the traditional ways of etiquette. :) I think part of it is because of women wanting equality. A lot of men think that offering a woman a seat on the bus, for example, can be degrading for the woman. To bad women's lib isn't all it's cracked up to be...

Some of you don't make sense in the response post above...

Equal rights has nothing to do with respect.
Example: Since you want to be treated equally, let us men disrespect you... (does that make sense to you??)

It's simply because men aren't men anymore. Well, except for a few of us ;-)

for one, it depends on how they've been raised and seen women get treated...and women back then were probably more respectable...if u kno what i mean...some women now go around lookn sleezy and give women a bad name...if men were raised around females like that, then it's no wonder they haven't learned the right way of treating a lady

In a society where women are equal to men....some men are afraid to do these things anymore...they don't want to look chauvanistic(sp) a lot of people say chivalry is dead...my man still does those things for me and I love it...other women would bite a mans head off for it...

do you really wonder why? men and teen boys are being exposed to things nowadays that tell their minds that it's okay to have 5 different girls sleeping with you at once. they think stuff like that is completely normal. they think that girls like being called certain names that i will never say but have been called.
the world won't change in one day, but this is something that needs to stop being shown on TV and in music videos and other things too. I'm really glad you brought up this question.

I think that all that stuff went out the window with the feminist movement. It's a double standard to expect them to open doors for us when we don't have to do the same for them.

Should black or Asian people be treated better based on their race?

How about Colombian people - should we offer them seats based on their nationality?

Treating people with courtesy based on gender, race, religion, or nationality is passe and ridiculous.

ALL PEOPLE (yes, even including men) are deserving of courtesy, kindness, and respect.
